The death of Mrs. Hannah Brickin, a
colored lady, occurred Saturday evening of old age. She was commonly reported
by those who knew her to be 103 years of age while others say she was not quite
so old. She came here from Marion County, Ky in 1888 and has since then made
her home in the city and at her daughters, Mrs. Nichols, just north of the city
where she was when her death occurred. Beside Mrs. Nichols, the aged lady had
some 10 or 12 children. Up to the last hour before her death, she was laughing
and talking with her grandchildren and she had always been usually hearty. The
funeral occurred this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Baptist Church on Hanna
